President's Message
Today, I am writing about a good friend in the Trucking Industry and a good friend to MVE as well. His name is Don Redfearn. He was the President and owner of Redfearn Trucking in Stockton Ca. Don just passed away last week after a long attempted recovery from major back surgery. He was 73 years old and just could not completely recover from this surgery. Our thoughts and prayers are with Don and his family at this time and we attended his service last Saturday in Lodi, Ca. Don’s company has pulled loads of our LTL shipments out of Southern California for many years and still today they are pulling three to four loads per night to Northern California. We have always used them for their dependability and trustworthiness. Don always did what he said he was going to do, because was a man of his word. MVE has come to heavily depend on this company to help us to provide the service to our customers that they have come to expect. Our Founder, Charlie Giles and Don Redfearn became the best of friends over the years and through their relationship and Charlie’s passing 7 ½ years ago, it was then that I myself came to know Don even more. Don would make it a point to call me once per week, after Charlie’s passing to check on me and to talk about our businesses, or just shoot the breeze, I will never forget that. Redfearn Trucking was a member of the CTA and we attended many a meeting together. He was a mentor to me as well. We went fishing in Alaska together, along with Vince Villavicencio and my son Derek, this first trip was in honor of Charlie. We decided to go in Charlie’s absence, and it was actually at Charlie’s service that I said to Vince, we’re going to Alaska fishing with Derek and Redfearn , so we went, and had a great time with Don and many other trucking friends. Don always wanted to be sure that everyone was having a good time and that everything was just right. He was a mother hen of sorts, always worried about the other guy. Don’s wife, Arlene is in a care home with severe Parkinson’s disease; Don said that he just wanted to get better, so he could take care of Arlene. Don was so in love with his wife that nothing else mattered to him, but to care for her, their love for each other was truly amazing. I have taken many a lesson from Don and his ways of doing things. I will always think of him in all that I do and will keep him in my prayers along with his wife and family. Don, you are now in heaven with Charlie and many others that have gone before you, may God keep and bless you, with all that you do up there. Good Bye for now and God Bless. Our
I.T. (Information Technology) dept. , Greg, Jason and Cindi,
must be recognized for the outstanding job that they have done for our
company in the successful deployment of our new VoIP Mitel phone system.
It is up and running after many months of planning and testing to be
sure everything was right. Great job to this entire department and to
Dan Souza for his oversight on this project as well as many others that
are in the works. Technology is what will set us apart from the pack
in the future and we have the right team to get us down the road now
and into the future. Thank you. MVE Go Green Scott Blevins, President
